About Kudu

Kudu shows law firms what ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity say about them, tested with the questions people actually type when they need a lawyer.

Who runs this

Kudu is an independent practice, not an agency. Free checks run automatically, so the answers reach you in minutes; every paid audit is reviewed by hand before it is approved for delivery. You can reach us directly at hello@kudu.legal.

What Kudu does

Three things. The free check takes a few minutes and shows, question by question, which firms each AI tool named, in what order, whether yours was one of them, and which websites the answers cited. The full audit goes further: every practice area you handle, a source-by-source breakdown, and a written action plan, delivered privately within a few business days. Full service means we do the work in that plan for you, month after month, website included. All three are described on the services page. If you want to see what a report looks like before running your own, read a finished sample report; the firm in it is invented, and the format is exactly the one your own check produces.

Alongside the checks, the learning center publishes free guides so any firm can understand how AI search works, whether or not they ever pay us.

Why Kudu exists

When someone needs a lawyer today, they increasingly ask ChatGPT, Google, or Perplexity instead of reading ten search results. Those tools answer with a short list of firm names. If your firm is not on that list, that client never hears about you.

Kudu was founded when that shift became impossible to ignore. We built an audit to answer the question every firm now faces: what does the AI actually say about us? Most firms had no way to see those answers. Kudu exists to show them: which firms the AI tools name, which get named instead of you, and which websites the answers come from.

How we measure

  • We write the questions a real client would type, for your practice area and city.
  • We ask ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Perplexity each of those questions.
  • We record which firms get named and which websites the answers cite.

The questions go to the AI tools themselves. Nothing in a report is an estimate; it is what the tools said when we asked. The method is explained step by step in our learning center, starting with the guide to answer engine optimization for law firms.

How we keep it honest

  • We do not control what the tools say, so we show you their real answers instead of promising placements. Anyone selling a guaranteed mention is selling something they do not own.
  • We are independent: not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI, Google, or Perplexity.
  • Every report is dated, and checks in the same market reuse the same questions, so a later check is a true before-and-after comparison.
